‘Formal Protest’ for Jim Parsons
Posted by alan | Filed under Editorials, General Life
“The Big Bang Theory” is one of the best sitcoms I’ve watched in recent memory. For those who don’t follow it, this show is a comedy about four nerds working at the physics and science departments at a California university. Stereotyping is one of the cornerstones of comedy, but there really hasn’t been that much [...]

Elpato at PAX and Street Fighter IV
Posted by El Pato | Filed under Behind the Scenes, Editorials
Word of warning to those of you going to PAX from the north (North Seattle, Canada, etc) the directions offered on the website are accurate, but they have Sennaca closed off due to construction. Nothing bad, head to the next street ahead and turn right, you can hit 8th from there. I found that out [...]
Avatar: The Sweet Gentle Skullfrak
Posted by Bryce Howard | Filed under Editorials, General Life
Many of us have experienced the violent double-dicked skullfrak that Michael Bay calls Transformers…and some of us have even suffered the terrible Spielbergian ass raping called Indiana Jones 4. Well James Cameron has just made sweet beautiful love to my eye sockets.
For 16 glorious minutes on Friday evening James Cameron lovingly cradled the back of [...]

Vonage Doesn’t Mess Around
Posted by alan | Filed under Editorials, General Life
I have been a Vonage customer for several years, but discontinued it when I ordered FIOS for the office. The reason I did this was because I received a discount for having both phone and internet on one bill. This is technically true, but that means I’m paying over one-hundred dollars for a freaking phone. [...]
Dragonball Evolution Movie semi-review
Posted by alan | Filed under Editorials, Gaming
I finished watching the movie Dragonball: Evolution. I had heard it was so terrible, and I ran into a mom who watched it with her 10-year-old son, and she actually found it enjoyable.
So my curiosity was piqued. To me, the Dragonball Z story has completely confounded me. I catch the cartoons every now and then [...]

Digg thinks EVERYTHING is a similar post
Posted by alan | Filed under Behind the Scenes, Editorials
So, one of the things I do to promote the articles on OCModShop is to post an announcement onto Digg, as well as several other noteworthy sites.
Digg gets so many posts every minute, it’s insane. To (help) prevent spammers and bots, they extensively use Captcha and “we think your story might be a duplicate” thingy.
Every [...]

Vista no likey Blu-ray
Posted by alan | Filed under Editorials, Hardware
I’ve written in previous posts that I finally procured a Blu-ray burner for the OCMS Labs. The drives have come way down in price, but the media is still somewhat expensive, even when compared to dual-layer DVD-R discs… you can get a 50-pack spindle for around $35! That’s about 70 cents per disc for those [...]

Availability of Blu-ray Media
Posted by alan | Filed under Audio/Video, Editorials, Hardware, Photography
So, I’ve finally secured a Blu-ray drive for the OCMS labs. Now the only thing is to get hordes of BD-R media, so I ventured out on one of our famous OCMS Field Trips.
I go into one local computer store and ask where their Blu-ray media is. Looking bewlidered, the sales rep called over the [...]

Products that aren’t so great after all
Posted by alan | Filed under Behind the Scenes, Editorials
We review many products here at [OC]ModShop, and try to be as honest as we possibly can. Sometimes we review a product that gets very high marks initially, but then we discover things about them that would make us re-think what we’ve stated about it. Either we discover something unexpected about the product, we find [...]

Oh, man! It’s great to mess with 13-year-olds…
Posted by alan | Filed under Behind the Scenes, Editorials
So, I’m trolling the comments on my YouTube videos, and I get one on the Quake 4 gameplay that says “wow you suck at this game”.
Of course I suck at the game… it was recorded from an Xbox 360. Not only did I have to play in crappy standard resolution, but I had to watch [...]
