360 PSUs and getting kicked off the TV

For many people, leisure time is either spent in front of a computer, a video game, or the television. If you like in a house with a family, then your video game console is probably connected to the main television.
Normally this isn’t a problem during the summer or at the end of the year, because there really isn’t a lot on TV. Now that our family’s shows are starting up again (American Idol, Lost and Heroes), there really isn’t a day where the TV is free for gaming.
Of course, the obvious solution is to take your precious console to one of the unoccupied TVs, or even a computer monitor. Unfortunately the consoles aren’t as portable as you might think, because you have to unhook everything and take it with you. This means reaching behind the TV or media cabinet in the dark (which is in a high recessed alcove in my situation), unplugging everything, and schlepping it somewhere temporarily only to have to do a complete hookup.
Things would be much easier if you just had seperate cables and power supplies. It used to be that extra Xbox 360 power bricks were hard to come by, but now you can pretty much walk into any store and just buy the power supply, or you can buy one online here. While you’re at it, go ahead and get some extra cables, too (check prices here). I bought the Xbox 360 VGA cable (reviewed here), so that I can bring my console into the office, and close the door on the shrill sounds of American Idol.
It seems like a no-brainer, but most people find themselves in this situation. Take a little forethought and you won’t find yourself passively waiting through horrible chick shows just for some Rock Band action.
