Gaming and Vista

My sentiments exactly. If you’re a gamer, then that’s a primary reason to switch to Vista.
Not only does Vista support DirectX10, but also openAL. DirectSound3d was phased out because MS got rid of the Hardware Abstraction Layer in Vista… this is also the reason why Creative is being de-throned by other manufacturers like Asus.
Nearly any modern game does not support EAX HD (which is based on DirectSound) and instead uses openAL.
IMO, if you’re a serious gamer then you want DirectX10 AND openAL support… and Vista is the only way to do that.
I can understand about Vista compatibility for office use. I use Vista for video editing, graphics, office, gaming, and haven’t had a major problem (except for Splinter Cell 3 which won’t install at all, even in compatibility mode)… most of the time if I encounter something weird I just get the latest drivers and the problem is resolved.

Also, if you’re going to have more than 3GB or RAM, then you want Vista, just because it has WAY more 64-bit support than 64-bit XP.
