This is an oddball, but I have a 1989 GM A body (Buick Century, to be specific) with a recently lit MIL throwing up a code 13 O2 sensor and a code 34 mass airflow sensor, both came up at the same time. Anybody have any clue what could cause both to go simultaneously? I’m leaning towards it being neither bad and it being something entirely seperate that’s throing up both codes. Air intake filters and ducts are clean and it has multi-port fuel injection, so there’s no throttle body to clean.
I don’t clear the computer as, unlike modern OBDII computers it’s rather hard to clear (and requires unhooking the battery with GM’s bad idea front mounted terminals - not gonna happen too often). The O2 comes up more often than the MAF, so cold idle circuit sounds likely. It would have been in a garage already, but it’ll likely cost close to what the car is worth to go through the diagnostics :-/
Lol, the car is a nice car though - or will be once it becomes mine and I can dump $10k into it. I want to keep it so I can get all of the windows working, install a new electronics system, replace the brakes with 4 wheel discs and bigger wheels to accomidate them, replace the Computer Command Center with an OBD-II system, add in a trip odometer and a few new gauges, replace the transaxle with a 4 or 5 speed (it’s a 3 right now), DVD player, etc. Basically: I want to have the best Buick on the block, and this 1989 is a good place to start since the engine is already very good and doesn’t leak or burn any oil (and it’s got almost 150,000 miles on it) and a good chasis, and is one of the last years with the hood ornaments, lol.
