SprintPCS has a PC Card that will get you 192 Kbps (assuming you’re right next to the tower, actual throughput is more like 64 Kbps) through their wireless internet, and you can even tack it onto the same phone bill as your cell phone.
Or you could just get gobs of cell minuites and use them to dial-up to the ISP of your choice. 2.5G CDMA phones (labeled “3G CDMA by Qualcom) get 56k speeds as long as they can get a signal, and if you just plug them into your laptop or such …
There’s also 802.11b services in several metro areas. In Manhattan, you can pretty much just drive down the street and pick up enough Wi-Fi signals to always connect
There’s also a free 802.11b service in Denver, put together by someone on a shoestring budget. I believe it’s going pay soon, but still only $5 or $10/month.
